    To promote Maury County, Tennessee as an autism supportive community to local families and visitors by encouraging community businesses in Maury County to become welcoming environments for individuals with special needs.

    Local businesses can support special needs individuals and families by taking small measures in store to support sensory needs (such as dimmed lighting or lowered sound), have sensory kits on hand, or develop special business hours and initiatives dedicated to autism friendly events.

FAQs

  • Several Maury County businesses were hosting special events or providing accommodations for guests who may have sensory needs or disabilities, and we wanted to raise awareness of their great work! We began dreaming of connecting these businesses into a network; our goal is that those seeking events or services that would support their family will have many options at their disposal!

  • Our President serves as the Admissions Director at The King’s Daughters’ School (a residential boarding school in Columbia that serves students with autism and other developmental delays), and other members of our Board have children or grandchildren with autism. The one thing we all share is a passion for making Maury County a special place to live that is welcoming to all.

  • We look forward to seeing you at future community events! We plan to celebrate Autism Awareness Month every April with an event for all ages. We also welcome you to visit the partners on our Map!

  • Our Community Partners have idenitfied a way in which they can support visitors by making an accommodation designed to promote a sensory-friendly and inclusive experience.
